At DomainContest.com --- the biggest domain industry contest is just around the corner set to launch real soon. I've been busy organizing everything and sorting stuff out with it for the past few weeks with a couple of colleagues. It's going to be pretty unique and like nothing else that has been done before, at least in the domain space. I'm excited about it and you too should be as well.
The whole idea is to promote and unite the industry through the social networking channel, specifically YouTube. Videos are the "it" thing this days and when the message is delivered in an interactive format, it is much better received. I'd really like to capitalize and get in on the video craze that has been happening for a few years now. The contest should be a lot of fun. There will also be tons of prizes. Tens of thousands of dollars worth.
We're talking about cold hard cash giveaways, domain registration and development services, premium domains and so on. It's gonna rock (fingers crossed) and I certainly hope that people embrace the idea and get active with it. A lot of people talk the talk in the domain industry, trying to find ways to breakthrough and reach out to the mainstream en masse in a creative setup. So, we'll see if they can walk the walk once the opportunity is presented.
I truly believe that the contest will do wonders. If it fails, well... I've tried. This will be my last domain industry related venture in 2009 as I've already previously announced two weeks ago. The industry as a whole will be to blame. I can't pull it off on my own and make it a big success. I will dedicate a lot of time, money and resources to it, but it's much bigger than just myself and a few others who are ready to take a gamble on this and try to make it work.

I'm also looking for some tips and additional feedback in making this the best domain contest it could be in order for it to go down in the history books. I like to do things big as many of you should already know by now. I like to create win-win situations for all. It's great when that is possible and actually happens.
Please note that the website currently just has one page of content, the homepage. It is still in the early stages and a "work in progress" as we're working hard at finalizing all the rules and details, coding and coordinating everything with many others so it is ran as smoothly as possible when it's go time.
