The next big thing to happen in the domain parking game... Can you guess what it is?

Google has opened up and now directly accepts clients to park their domains with them via the AdSense service... This was both good and bad news, really depends on how you look at it --- but what about Yahoo? Do they have anything in the works? Have they been working on a new product or a better and more improved solution for the domain channel?? Surely the brainiacs over there want to improve the click through rates, conversions and such... I hope! It will add to their bottom line as well as bring in more business. If there was ever a time to do so, it is now, like right this moment now.

Well, I have a feeling that something is going to be announced real soon from Yahoo... They desperately need something fresh and innovative to keep peoples spirits high and not totally abandon them. Peoples patience is right near the boiling point and I am sure many are considering alternatives rather then sticking it out with Yahoo. Everybody knows that Google has more advertisers and they pay more for traffic. So I will make a prediction... The new feature: it will probably be "thumbnail" images next to the PPC ads on parked domain names.

Yahoo is already using a service from a company called Image Advantage which is also known as "Worth a thousand words" within the Yahoo! Directory which you can see for yourself if you browse through some of the random categories there. Of course what I think the next logical step should be is to deploy this type of setup across their entire system... I don't know why it hasn't been done already. But doing so will probably happen on the domain channel prior to going global.

"Ad networks rely on Image Advantage to help advertisers and publishers unleash the power of combining highly relevant images with text-based paid listings. This unmatched service offering provides a virtually seamless way to create a more desirable and engaging user experience, while generating increased revenue for all parties. And the best part? Image Advantage can be easily integrated within any existing ad serving platform."

Image Advantage aims to provide an engaging user experience, delivery and increase in CTR and it offers equal/better conversion rates as well of course. Now, I really hope that they do introduce either this new feature or something else because they need to stay competitive. If they aren't working on it, or don't have any plans for any new major changes or updates, ummmn... Somebody who has a good contact over at Yahoo should pass on this suggestion and free consultation to the right people and make it happen. It will be a "win-win" if you know what I mean.

This is nothing new for parked domains though. I recall seeing thumbnails next to PPC ads on a bunch of Sedo parked pages a few years ago. It was a really limited test drive from what I was told and I don't remember how it turned out but it looked interesting that is for sure. This was also done by SearchBoXXX which is an adult PPC engine which powered exclusively the adult feed for Traffic Club, a discontinued service from Moniker which was consolidated by Oversee.net and now part of the DomainSponsor system.

Another new feature that Yahoo may roll out to all parked domain names may be actual relevant product feeds through their Yahoo! Shopping Paid Syndication Program which has been in Beta forever now... Just like the Yahoo Publisher Network, by the way, what ever happen to it?? We all know what didn't!! Real shame. So anyways, I've seen some pretty nice setups from some domainers as well as mass developers using Yahoo's shopping feed to syndicate products as well as content to their websites. It involved a bit of customization and getting a website designed/self hosted as well but it really isn't all that difficult to deploy it on parked pages as well with everything on auto-pilot ort least offering it as a feature. Nothing too complex.

DigiMedia has had it set up on some of their domain names for a while now... Well over a year that I am sure of. The program is a hybrid type of setup. I don't know why Yahoo never improves on their products/services... They are so good at building up hype but then easily forget about whatever they were originally planning to do. Hopefully something will come soon... It's about time. Check out some of the examples to see what I am talking about.

I was aspired to make this type of observation as well as a prediction thanks to reading Ron Jackson's "state of the industry 2009" piece published over at the DNJournal which was very well done. Maybe next year I will be included in there too with Reinvent Technology Founder Dr. Kevin Ham, the father of Internet telephony Dr. Chris Hartnett, Skenzo Founder and Directi Co-Founder Divyank Turakhia, domain attorney Ari Goldberger, real estate domain impresario Rob Grant, Sedo co-founder and CEO Tim Schumacher, WashingtonVC founder and BuyDomains co-founder Michael Mann, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. co-founders Rick Schwartz and Howard Neu, Moniker CEO Monte Cahn, Internet Real Estate Group co-founder Andrew Miller, two giants from the geo domain development field, brothers Michael and David Castello, founders of the Castello Cities Internet Network ( CCIN), ParkLogic.com co-founder and WhizzbangsBlog author Michael Gilmour and Internet Commerce Assocation Legal Counsel Phil Corwin... Would sure be sweet!
