Man, I tell ya.. Everybody is a domain development pro all of the sudden it seems. The domain development boom is in full effect in 2009!! Domainers are slowly but surely building out their domains, however they can, which is great but I have one issue with all of this.. Something that is pretty damn annoying. I mean, it's nice that you got a website and I am sure you are very proud of your works but showcasing every "minisite" you develop is pretty ridiculous.
All of this is reminding me of the domain name phenomena... You register bladkfsdsf.com and post all over the forums that you got the next big thing worth millions or whatever. It's mostly domain newbies doing it though obviously... LOL! But of course we have the new wave of domainer developer newbies that are doing the same thing with development everywhere you look. It's freaking annoying!! Outside people from various other industries are quietly laughing at you all. You are not impressing anybody with your shitty 1 or 2 page minisites. There is absolutely nothing special about them. Nope!!
I remember designing my first website like 11 or 12 years ago in freakin notepad and even those websites looked much better than what I see this days by so called domainers turned developers who think they know what they are doing... We now have WordPress to work with, which is easy as 1-2-3 to setup websites but many people still manage to somehow screw things up. So I just don't get it.. Why is there so many crappy websites out there being showcased each and every day... Why why why??!
LOL... It's like when a 12 year old girly finally has her tits growing / showing a bit and she starts wearing nothing but revealing sexy clothes to show off her brand new chest... Hilarious!! It's the same with 14 year old boys who think they have muscles and start wearing nothing but sleeveless shirts strutting their stuff. Haha.. Domainer developers are comparable to those funny individuals that can't and won't be taken seriously. It just won't happen.
Understand that domain development is a never ending process. You finally got a website launched?? Great. Keep working at it. Keep those improvement coming. Add content. Do search engine optimization. Market it to the right audience. Do whatever needs to be done for you to be taken seriously because just having a 1 or 2 page website filled with adsense or whatever other ads is a joke. It looks like 95% or so of most domainers are so behind on things. So behind on internet technologies. Like 5 years behind. Get out of your caves!!
We're halfway into 2009.. You need to get your shit together. If you are not sure what the hell you are doing, simply ask for help. There is no such thing as a stupid question... So don't be afraid and ask away on forums, blogs, etc. If you are unsure of how to setup this or that, you better seek help!! Getting the opinions of others is important. Very very important. Especially when you are just a newbie starting out. You have no "professional" training or background and you need somebody to double check and even triple check your work.
So before you start showcasing all of your sites to the world and swearing that they are so awesome and cool.. Why don't you first make sure that the sites are at least setup in a way that makes sense. There are standards and guidelines to follow.. You know?! If you want to get on the fast track, you need to learn all of the basics and first excel in those. Then you can get into some more advanced stuff. Take one step at a time and never rush things.
If you don't know shit about development, in other words you are totally clueless... You got two realistic options today. First one: you can obviously pay somebody to do all the work for you. Second one is where you learn how to use wordpress to develop websites. In 2009 there is many different options and development is as affordable as ever before if you simply know where to look.
For less than $100 you can have a website custom developed and SEO'd properly for you by a pro and for less than one grand you can have a full blown website setup all on your own. It's not that difficult... It really isn't. Duh!!
