Slowly but surely Frank Schilling of Name Administration Inc is chipping away. Once a self-proclaimed "pure play domainer" he now turns to web development as an alternative solution to domain parking in order to acquire more traffic, direct advertisers and increase revenues exponentially across his multi-million dollar properties.
Also another very good reason for going the "full blown" route and by investing in proper development of the domains... He is protecting his valuable assets from getting taken away from him in a blink of an eye by some slimeball of a company and the crooked UDRP process which doesn't always uphold justice.. A lot of times the results don't make sense, but if you leave the content generation of your website's to computers... You are just asking for trouble!!
Have a look at some of the great website's below and see for yourself how proper web development should be done. It has nothing fancy schmancy about it really and is easy to clone. The design is clean. Navigation is simple. Content is relevant and has visuals in order to engage with the visitors. Ad placement is perfect and in the right hotspots with a search box present so that the visitor may self-serve. The SEO has been taken care of as well. A great job overall!
It looks like Frank Schilling is still in the late experimenting stages with development but he has been going at it since early 2008, I just can't seem to find some more examples... He only has a few hundred thousand of em!! Into 2009 he continues to do so consistently.. Must be serious about it?! I mean, you have to in this day and age :) No more easy money out there. You really do have to have a game plan and be able to execute it each and every time.
Franky has used just one professional designer from Canada by the name of Peter Egerton. I don't know who produces all of the written articles for the Name Administration website's and parked domains as well, but they do a good job with it as well. I am convinced that once Frank Schilling decides to roll out a lot more such similar sites, across the 1000s of generic 1 and 2 category killer dot com domains that he has... Wow.. Watch out!!
With the latest news about Google rolling out caffeine which rewards websites that are setup specifically on 1 and 2 keyword dot com domains... Isn't now a great time if ever to get serious about development?? Of course it is. There are always a lot more opportunities with web development... Virtually endless. Anything that you can dream up, you can achive.. You just have to start somewhere one day.. Otherwise, it is just a dream --- a big nothing :)
Also I predict that Frank Schilling will beat Kevin Ham as far as mass deployment of web development goes and all of the rest of those domainer investment groups / hotshots who do nothing but talk talk talk for years now with lots of unrealistic business development plans... All they have produced so far is logos and hot air!! and of course Frank Schilling will be more successful over the long-run because he is smart enough to get in on the action early.
Kevin Ham and his crew have many employees, don't recall the numbers, while Franky gets most of it done by himself for the most part and with the help of a few close associates here and there. He runs a tight ship, I tell ya. You really do not need a hundred workers or a million bucks to make it in this game tho! All you need is a good domain, business plan / vision and the ability to execute and understand that it is a long term play... Gotta stick it out.
Six month's.. 1 year... Whatever the plan is, you gotta hang in there and stay positive. Nothing happens overnight anymore! Nope... Remember that development is an investment into your domains and future. An investment which creates a lot of value. Some of it isn't visible right away, sure!! But it is all there for the ones that it matters most.
You focus on putting website's out there with something special and unique and you shall receive a warm and welcome greeting and continuous support by the search engines, visitors and advertisers too!!! This is nothing really new though and I am sure you already knew this facts, so the question is.. WTF are you still sitting on all those great domains that you have collected over the years?! Do you need help??! Well... I am here for you... Lets talk business!!
I get approached by many potential clients all the time and they have no idea what type of website/s they want created and what's best... I tell them that we can "clone" any setup, product or service.. It is simple and easy to do when you got something to go by. So you guys should take notice of this for future reference... Those three examples by Frank Schilling are really effective setup's. Any website that is setup similar to it will turn out to be a success.
As for the winning formula.. What is it??! Uhh. You must invest your cash wisely --- only in the right domains. You also cannot be afraid to experiment and do some pretty crazy things along the way. That is the winning formula. Yea, sure... Go ahead and think + plan big things but keep expectations realistic. As long as you break even here and there and turn in a profit sooner than later, you are doing alright... There is hope :) Development is a pretty fun and wild ride... But the real question is... Can you handle it??!??!
