Fill the void… Cuz somebody’s gotta do it!
Whenever I usually launch a new website and/or business venture I like to fill a void… In order to become successful and turn in a profit at the end of the day, you gotta provide a certain product and/or service which will be in-demand by a certain group of people or businesses… Something that solves problems, fulfills needs and can be used to get some productivity going and hopefully rolling in that dough.
Now I’ve been running all kinds of businesses both online and offline since the late 90′s believe it or not… I won’t get into all of those in this post, that is for another time. Below is just some of the business ventures which we’ve launched specifically focused within the domain industry since early as 2008.
Maxxximize.com — Early 2008
When I was in the process of getting out of the adult business for good in late 2007 I was enjoying some of the most generous revenue-shares and pay-per-sale payouts that any affiliate program had offered back then. While everybody was getting 50-60% for example I would be getting minimum 20% on top of that and bonuses because I was driving a shitload of traffic which converted into sales beautifully. Super-affiliate style.
So I wanted to see if there was some interest within the domainer community for something beyond domain parking, at which time it was starting to decline big time, especially for PPC, and we soon found out there was a huge demand and interest for a new domain monetization solution specifically for adult traffic… Few month’s later we launched Maxxximize.com in 2008 where we paid out 90% of all generated sales to our partners. We generated millions of dollars that year alone.
We kept the operation small and out of the public eye, with less than 100 clients at any given time, but we serviced some of the biggest and best adult domainers’ portfolios in the world. We did a lot of innovative stuff with zero-click, seo, mass development and overall cross-selling… I re-signed from my position at Maxxximize.com last summer and one of my other partners took over after a great run of over 2 years.
WannaDevelop.com — Late 2008
I launched the WannaDevelop.com website as a blog in order to fill in a void because really there was no authoritative online blogs / resources within the domainer community back in 2008 when domain development was starting to take off and become a really tending and hot topic. The huge economic collapse was in full effect back then as well, and I felt like giving back to a community that has been good to me from the early days… So I kind of did my part by sharing the in’s and out’s. I know the articles posted here back then really helped many people. It’s great stuff.
I really didn’t expect to be blogging for more than a few month’s originally to tell you the truth, I surely thought that it would get old after a while, and it of course did. I thought of quitting many times in 2009 and 2010, shutting this thing down and doing my thing, as I always do, privately and behind the scenes… But there is something nice and exciting about blogging which made me reverse my decision many times. So here we are, still alive and well, kicking… On and on we go.
DomainMassDevelopment.com — Early 2009
From all of the buzz and success that was generated via the WannaDevelop.com blog came many visitors and people who were interested in a full service when it came to mass development… So it was really a no brainer, we went ahead and launched DomainMassDevelopment.com which is now responsible for almost $5,000,000 in domain mass development projects in the past 2 years. We’ve serviced tens of thousands of domains and over 1,000 clients from all parts of the world.
Once again, the new website and business venture filled a void… As there really wasn’t anybody out there who knew what they were doing as far as domain mass development goes, so naturally I had to step up to the plate and get things rolling. I wasn’t planning on this stuff, really, but as the opportunity fell onto my lap… I did my thing. Now looking back, I would of never thought that we would be doing so much business but hey, I can’t complain. Margins on some of the services we now provide are as much as 80% so it’s awesome. On and on we go… No stopping anytime soon.
DomainStryker.com — Late 2009
After talking to literally 1000s of domainers from all levels, including up-and-coming newbies and some of the biggest and most successful… It became clear to me that most of the newbies who were just starting out in this business had no idea what good domains they should be buying, and what they should be staying away from. So of course, I had to fill the void and come out with a service that provided daily domain investment opportunities.
DomainStryker.com premiered in late 2009… It took us a while to figure out the business model, but after a little over a year the service is now finally kicking ass and quite a profitable operation too as everything is on auto-pilot for the most part. Originally we tried to please everybody by even providing valuable data for free, but now we simply focus on a small group of serious domainers who are long-time clients who share my vision.
Our membership is less than two dozen deep and we plan to keep it that way for a while, but these people fully understand the value of the exclusive data that they have access to daily and are more than happy to pony up the $XXXX monthly membership fee. It’s really a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things… Keyword domains are always in-demand, by up-and-comers and veterans… We help them get their hands on the best of the best auctions. It’s a win-win type of deal if you know what I mean.
SiteDepot.com — Mid 2010
Our focus has always been on mass development, because that is where the big money is, but after literally turning down probably anywhere from 500 – 700 people from when I launched WannaDevelop.com I knew that one day I would want to service the newbies and up-and-comers as well because everybody starts out small… It’s just the natural cycle. I want to convert them into mass developers as well… But you gotta go work with their starting budgets and scheduling.
So SiteDepot.com filled the void for people who weren’t ready to commit to mass development for their entire domain portfolio’s and spend $XXXX per project… We started taking single site orders, and boy did these orders start pouring in. Since last summer we have fulfilled at least 1,500 orders via SiteDepot.com and many of the clients keep coming back for more. Of course that was the whole idea from the start… Give them the opportunity to test the whole setup, and if they like it, they will be back. On average, clients of SiteDepot.com place 4 – 5 orders over their lifetime. Not bad, right? Little by little it all adds up… and they graduate into full blown mass development too!
Doughmains.com — Early 2011
And here we are today… Doughmains.com is my next project, which will get full attention and focus. I don’t plan to launch anymore domaining related websites or business ventures in 2011… I hope to put whatever time and energy I have into making Doughmains.com a success. I will continue sharing my vision about this project… But overall, the whole idea is to create an informational guide, resource and a central hub with a lot of user interaction.
Whether it turns out as I envision it is a whole different story, but for now we are just laying down the foundation… Working stuff out on back-end… Lots going on behind the scenes. Once everything is ready, the platform will be innovative and exciting. It should generate a lot of activity and provide truly unique and one of a kind resources that cannot be found anywhere else. I hope my domaining peers can and will embrace this latest venture which fills a huge void in the always evolving domain biz.

“I like to fill avoid…”
