Franky opens up DomainNameSales.com — Why?

Some pretty cool and interesting data is now available from as many as 1,000,000 domains for sale on the DomainNameSales.com platform… But why did Frank Schilling and the NAMedia team decide to open up the platform and unleash all of this data about the new “marketplace” you must be wondering!?? It wasn’t just for the hell of it, you know. I think the reasoning behind this latest move is mainly because this data will get the new sales website/platform a lot more attention and create a consistent buzz week in and week...

Making sense of the Meet.Me $450,000 Sale…

I am sure many domainers and outsiders have been trying to make sense of the Meet.me domain sale... But not all domain sales make much sense if any, don't you forget!! Not sure why the company who already owns MeetMe.com needed the Meet.me domain, but I guess they had the funds available and didn't mind dropping those $450k on a domain and considered it a good decision for one reason or another. But yea, they surely aren't the first to spend a huge sum on a domain as part of what I would call a "defensive strategy" which in my opinion is exactly what the reasoning behind this domain acquisition was... Protecting their trademark/brand of a product/service they have been pushing and well known for from within the conferencing industry. Nothing more and nothing less.

Traffic Leak/Spillover By The Numbers: O.co -VS- O.com

Lots of talk recently about just how big of a failure Overstock’s re-breanding and new website at O.co was… But really, it wasn’t all that bad in my opinion considering the circumstances. Look at the numbers for yourself, courtesy of Google Insights For Search.     Sure, more than half of all people who saw / heard ads for the new O.co website went to O.com and not O.co but what were the geniuses’ at Overstock.com expecting? There is always going to be a traffic leakage / spillover when using new extensions or...

Frank Schilling: Not all domains are created equal

Frank Schilling’s company website @ NAmedia.com has gotten a fresh new look after a couple of years, and I gotta say, I love it. It’s unique and does not look like most other domain/tech related corporate sites. The new look was rolled out shortly after DomainNameSales.com got a facelift… Never just sitting on the sidelines… Putting in the hard work day in and day out! Obviously they are trying to stay on top of their game and take things to the next level slowly but surely  “Founded by internet entrepreneur...

Parked.com switching to Google feed too?! Looks like it!

In recent weeks, I have noticed the fellas at Directnic.com / Parked.com, who own one of the largest domain portfolios in the world, shift a ton of their domains from being on the Parked.com platform (Yahoo powered) to a new one onto the VooDoo.com setup which is Google powered. Frank Schilling and Kevin Ham had done the same in just recent month's. The new parking pages also look to be improved with some better usability, contextual targeting and navigation VS. the existing Parked.com landers which have not been updated in what seems forever now.

eXXXposed: Massive interest in .XXX extension… Top visited @ Wiki?!?! .CO get outta the way!

Some of the biggest registrars in the world are already taking pre-orders and creating major buzz around the .XXX sponsored top level domain. GoDaddy, eNom, Register.com and Network Solutions are in on the action just to name a few. The .XXX (dot triple X) page over at Wikipedia.org is one of the most popular informational resources when it comes to this new extension. It has been around for a couple of years now with breaking news and in-depth coverage of the whole approval and setup process of this new extension, and the stats of this page are pretty interesting and provide a lot of insights.

Kevin Ham’s Hitfarm makes the switch over to Google

Looks like Kevin Ham’s domain parking/monetization service Hitfarm.com has made the switch to a Google powered PPC ad feed as well recently… Ouch, sucks for Yahoo! They just lost another biggie… And just before that, Frank Schilling made the switch. That is probably close to one million domains gone from the Yahoo/Microsoft AdCenter traffic supply this year. So who is next? I’d say, many more switches are to come… Google is gobbling up all this traffic and rewarding people nicely I am sure with quality...
