Haha.. Guys.... Seriously! Why are you sleepin on affiliate marketing?! Why are you still relying on PPC as the #1 source of income off of your domains / websites. Man... That is so silly. Affiliate marketing is estimated to be at something like minimum $10 billion and growing year after year... After year...and there is a very good explanation. It is because affiliate marketing works GREAT for everybody. It is a win-win deal. It is freakin awesome.
Now... For anybody who thinks that PPC revenues off of parked domains or developed websites via adsense is great or something to get excited about.. Haha!!!! You are so wrong. It is only a fraction of what your traffic may be *potentially* worth. The only people who make the real money in a PPC monetization setup is the middleman or otherwise known as broker, which is Google and the buyer of that traffic which is the advertiser also known as an affiliate marketer > I place ads on Google, and the rest is history. Cha-ching!
Google spreads around the ads all over the internet.. to parking pages... websites... etc. My ads get displayed on your websites which you work so very hard on... You get a few pennies per click from my favorite traffic broker, mister Google the traffic pimp... I get the quality traffic and all of your best visitors and I convert it through an affiliate program and make 10x - 100x of what you make. I do 1/100th of the work that you do... I make easy money. You work your ass off tirelessly and for what...?! You make shit. Booooo :(
But why?!? Well, because your lazy ass doesn't want or simply can't convert the traffic. You rather set and forget with this AdSense thing.. Haha.... Fine with me. Carry on. Soooo.. I guess I officially became an affiliate marketer in 2005. It was when I quit domaining for good and went all in and full time into the marketing of all kinds of affiliate programs. I tested hundreds of them. I've worked with lots of affiliate programs over the years... At least a few thou.. But who the hell remembers?! Ones that work, you stick with.. Look!! In 2005 when I quit domaining after I made nice $ doing that full time for a little over a year... I went all in with affil marketing because it was a more stable business with a lot more opportunities. I said this same exact words to one of my closest friends and business associates when he found out I was starting out with a new venture.. "affiliate marketing is the next big thing on the net, much bigger than domains or anything else, and the opportunities in the affil game are infinite" why?!?? Because you get to sell stuff to over a billion people... Directly through Google.com DUH!!! :D
You basically become a reseller of some products / services. You are selling it and getting a commission for every successful transaction. You can become the reseller of like hundreds of millions of things. Yes.. I said hundreds of millions of things... Think Amazon.... Think eBay... Think all the real estate listings.. Think all the hotels in the world... Think clothes.. Think ____. There is lots of stuff to resell. Pretty much every site doing e-commerce online this days has an affiliate program. Any decent site should be open to partners / affiliates. They welcome affiliate marketers because they make deals happen.. YUP!
Probably the most successful industries online that have blown up and as big as they are today, all thanks to affiliate programs... They would be: porn, pharma and gambling.. I know, most people shy away from it but we are talking about billions of dollars generated, 100% legit and all thanks to affiliates. Everybody makes money and that is the way it should be. One of my closest friends and people who I look up to the most for over 10 years now... He made a killing thanks to affil marketing. You know.. We are talking about old school shit. Mass IM messaging on AOL x100,000s daily. All over chat rooms. Instant messaging single man and women.. Promoting adultfriendfinder.com. The money in that was HUGE and he was one of the top 10 marketers of it at that time. What does he do now??! Of course he doesn't promote it anymore because everybody else and their mama is but I helped him out with his operation and it was something unreal. Single digit conversions. We are talking about ~ 1:5!! Yes, I kid you not.. AOL rocked !!!
The guy has been retired for a few years now.. He officially retired before even hitting 25. That is right... All thanks to affiliate marketing. He saw the opportunities and went hard at it. I will write another post one day maybe and elaborate a bit because there is just too much to cover... Anyways. Let me show you some examples of what affiliate marketing is all about. Let us explore some of the ways to make money with it and just how much??!
So... There is Liquid Web --- a web hosting company that has been around forever now. They have an affiliate program, open to anybody. How does it work?! Simple.. You send over web hosting targeted traffic at their site and if one of the referred visitors you sent their way orders something.. You get the following: a one-time commission equal to the referred customers monthly recurring cost plus 5% recurring revenue for lifetime.
Now.. Lets break that down to some numbers. Say you refer somebody who orders a dedicated server from Liquid Web... He orders a dedicated server for $1,742 (yes, it's a real price.. and yes they even have servers for $5000+ per month as well) so basically, your commission would be $1,742...and you get 5% off of $1,742 for the rest of the lifetime of that account which basically means as long as that dedicated server is active --- you get your % monthly!
Now, of course not everybody is going to order dedicated servers that cost thousands of dollars per month.. But most dedicated servers cost a few hundred bucks. That would probably be your average commission. $300 - $400 per order + lifetime rev share month after month. It's not bad... Right?! No... I've been marketing web hosting for a few years now and this is one of the single biggest commission$ opportunities that exist today... Easy sell too.. :D
Lets look at another one... How about Hotels.com ? They offer a 5.5% commission on every referral via CJ.com (largest affiliate network in the world) So lets say a visitor you referred books a hotel room at the rate of $300/day for 5 days.. Total is $1,500 = you get $75. Not bad... Sure, it's not a few hundred bucks such as the web hosting affiliate arrangement. You can sell a lot more hotel reservations than servers... So here, the money is with quantity.
How about some porn?! Lets take a look at Cams.com a live sex shows website.. Their affiliate program offers 20% for all orders. Lets say some horny and bored guy fills up his account with $1000 worth of credits one night... Great! You just made $200 right there. On the next night he buys up $500 worth of credit... Great! You just made $100. You got a rev share for life. You are rolling in the big bucks. He spends $10,000 per month, you make $1,000.
Can you send a lot of horny guys to Cams.com ?! Great.. You will get upgraded to a higher tier level.. As high as 35% off of all orders. Woohoo!! Sweet. You will even get 10% if you refer other affils to do just what you are doing because it's so damn cool.. Everybody should be promoting Cams.com right?! Everybody should be cashing in.... Your affils make $100,000 / month >> you make $10,000 / month. Easy money. Really... EEEEEEEEASY money! Yay...
Last affiliate program and it's a wrap... Yep, it's from yours truly.. DomainMassDevelopment.com where we offer 10% off of all orders with no caps or anything like that. Our average order is close to $5,000 so the affiliate will make $500. Not bad... Right?! Plus we payout bonuses to super-affiliates who can generate more than 10 orders per month... Woohoo!! :) One grand just for delivering 10 orders per month... 50 or more? $5,000 coming your way... Can do over 100? That is a sweet $10,000 for rocking... Woohooo!
All you had to do was send over the traffic.. Wait, no, you didn't even have to do that. You didn't even have to get off your ass. You didn't even have to make a single keystroke. All you had to do was setup a link or banner on your website. A one time thing... and the referrals keep generating themselves. You match up your good traffic with good affiliate offers >> Big bucks. HELLO! :)
Man... Now do you see how easy it is to make money with affiliate marketing?! You just need to find the affil programs that will convert with the traffic that you have. Sometimes it won't be easy... But rest assured, there is an affiliate program for everything out there and I mean everything. Soooo... Stop bullshiting around. Stop wasting your traffic on PPC and making affiliate marketers + google richer by the day. That is really silly. You should try to monetize your traffic to the fullest... Shouldn't you?! I think it's worth a shot :)
It's all about creating relationships. It's all about cutting out as many middleman as possible. It's all about exclusivity and working closely and knowing what you are actually selling in order to make the most of your traffic. Makes sense?? You need to figure out how to monetize your traffic beyond Google because Google doesn't give a shit about you. They really don't.
One random day, you will get an automated e-mail saying "your account has been terminated" and that's the end of that wonderful love-hate relationship you had. You won't be able to do anything about it. Complaining on forums won't help. You got nobody to turn to. You got nobody to reverse those decisions... Sooo, stop relying on Google... It is for newbies and people who are only starting out in this biz. I mean, It is an "OK" temporary monetization strategy but you should never solely rely on it.
We are in freakin 2009 and the opportunities in the affiliate marketing game are huge. There has never been so many programs. There has never been so many good offers to sell. You just gotta put your mind to it and get it done. It is time to go to the next level. It is time to grow up... You know?? I sure hope so.
